Tom, Analog Team Lead

Tom started working at ICsense in 2012 after completing his PhD. He started his professional journey as Analog Design Engineer and has grown into the role of Analog Team Lead. Tom is a valued and long-standing member of our team, he is a trusted point of contact for colleagues and a true ambassador of ICsense in interactions with external partners. Outside of work, he enjoys long runs to stay active and clear his mind.

What inspired your interest in joining an ASIC design & supply company?

I’ve been interested in electronics from a very young age. My first recollection on playing with batteries and lamp bulbs dates back from early years in primary school. Inspired and supported by my grandfather I started reading about it and reverse engineering old radio’s, coffee machines etc. My room often looked more like a junk yard. Throughout high school I finally learned more about electric theory and electronics and decided to study engineering to really master this field and dive into micro-electronics.

Why did you choose ICsense?

At the university I got to know ICsense through the micro-electronics symposia organized by IEEE. ICsense CEO Bram De Muer was a regular speaker at these events. After my PhD, I really wanted to join a company that was on the forefront of technology, ICsense clearly fits that description. I also heard from former colleagues and fellow students that ICsense had a great working atmosphere.

What is your current job focus?

I started as an Analog Design Engineer at ICsense and grew into the role of Analog Team Lead. This means that next to the technical work, I’m also supporting my fellow team members in different ways. I organize training and knowledge sharing initiatives, I coordinate improvements on analog design flow and collaboration with universities.

What do you enjoy most about working with the ICsense team?

What I really like about ICsense is how they nurture each colleague’s talents and encourage me to develop my skills based on my own interests.

How would you describe the ICsense company culture in one word - and why?

What really describes ICsense for me is “One Team”. At ICsense, you’re never on your own! We work together and support each other, not just to create innovative ASICs, but because we truly care about each other.
