Liese joined after graduating in 2022, making ICsense her very first employer. Her journey with ICsense began even earlier through a student job, where she got a taste of the company culture and way of working. Now a valued member of ICsense’s growing digital team, Liese brings fresh perspectives and enthusiasm to every project. Outside of work, Liese likes discovering new corners of the world. She also cherishes quality time with her loved ones—whether it’s cooking, different types of sports, playing board games or just watching a good series or movie.
My mom has been working with chips as long as I can remember. When I was still a little kid, however, I had no understanding of what that meant at all. I remember as a little girl my mom made me go to a “technology for girls” day at her job, I did not realize it at the time, but I’m sure that the normalization of woman in engineering professions inspired me to choose to study engineering sciences. During my bachelor it became clear to me that I enjoyed electrical engineering and specifically chipdesign the most.
Currently I’m mainly focused on digital verification. Verification is often an underestimated part of development. Based on the same specification that is used for the design, we independently build models for the different blocks that are on the digital part of the chip. The behavior of the model and RTL-block is the same, but the way of coding is different. We create a testbench that feeds the same, often randomized, input to the design and verification models and make our tests (and also models itself) self-checking. Every night all of the created tests run with different inputs. If any mismatches occurred, we then debug that testcase to see what exactly the issue is.
The work they did and how both the analog and digital part of the chip are designed in-house, really interested me. I also really like the size of the company; not too big, not too small. Before working full-time for ICsense, I already did a summer job. In that time I could already feel I was in the right place.
Everybody in the company is very approachable including management. A lot of activities are organized by the company which results in a great relationship with your colleagues. In general, I just really like the working atmosphere.
The work I do really varies from day to day: writing tests, writing verification models, debugging code, … During lunch I sometimes take a walk or go running in the forest with colleagues, other times we enjoy lunch together in the cafeteria. I’m a fan of the variety and the autonomy to plan my own workday.
