ICsense announces participation in IMPHORIA EU project

ICsense Joins IMPHORIA to Advance the Next Generation of Implantable Neuromodulation

ICsense is proud to announce its participation in IMPHORIA, a new European innovation project that aims to redefine the future of implantable neuromodulation technologies for the treatment of chronic diseases.

Officially launched during a two-day kick-off meeting at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, the three-year project brings together leading experts from across Europe to develop a new generation of intelligent, closed-loop neuromodulation systems. Supported by the Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU), IMPHORIA combines expertise in microelectronics, neurotechnology, sensing, artificial intelligence, and medical device development.

Today’s implantable neuromodulation devices have already demonstrated significant clinical benefits, but many solutions remain limited by their size, rigidity, and reliance on open-loop operation. IMPHORIA seeks to overcome these challenges by creating an integrated platform that combines advanced microelectronics, real-time sensing, adaptive stimulation, and embedded AI to enable truly personalized therapies.

As a leading provider of mixed-signal ASIC design services, ICsense will contribute its expertise in the development of highly integrated, ultra-low-power semiconductor solutions that are essential for next-generation implantable medical devices. The project’s ambitious goals require advanced electronics capable of processing complex physiological signals while operating within the strict power and size constraints of implantable systems.

IMPHORIA brings together an outstanding consortium including ONWARD Medical, INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, Salvia BioElectronics, Aptasic, and many other leading European organizations spanning the complete value chain from semiconductor innovation to clinical application.

By collaborating closely with its partners, ICsense aims to help accelerate the development of breakthrough neuromodulation technologies that can improve patient outcomes and expand treatment possibilities for a wide range of chronic conditions.

We are excited to be part of this pioneering initiative and look forward to contributing to the innovations that will shape the future of personalized neurotherapies.
