Battery management IC for high-voltage Li-Ion and Lead-Acid batteries
Battery management is one of ICsense’s core competences. We developed for example a generic battery management IC that can measure the health and charge of Li-Ion high-voltage battery systems (for e.g. electric cars or motorbikes) and of standard PbSO4 batteries ranging from 12 to 42V. Our IC designers implemented highly-accurate switched-capacitor instrumentation circuits that acquire signals from -0.3V to 35V. These parameters that are permanently monitored:
- Battery voltage: divided to 12V input
- Battery current: shunt resistor or hall sensor
- Battery temperature: NTC resistor + ASIC junction also measured
- Battery lifetime
Features:
- Switched-capacitor low-offset, low noise, high-gain instrumentation
- System-level chopping
- Multi-channel measurements multiplexed to one 14-bit ADC
- Input signals below -0.3V, maximum input voltage 35V
- 0.35um, 50V technology
- Junction temperature: -40°C to 150°C
