ICsense’s automotive experts have developed a dual H-bridge driver for climate control applications. The driver controls the permanent magnet DC motor of the air-conditioning fan speed in a car. The IC can be used for pulse count and potentiometer feedback systems with permanent magnet DC motors. It has 2 modes of operation, selectable with an external pin:
- The sequential mode can drive three motors, one at a time.
- The parallel mode can drive two motors fully independently.
In pulse count applications, the IC detects the DC motor commutation pulses and creates a pulse for every detected commutation pulse. These pulses can then be fed back to a microcontroller for position sensing and control.
Feature:
- 2 H-bridge drivers with over-current detection and protection
- Mode selection circuit for the half-bridges in parallel versus sequential mode
- Pulse detection circuit, one per H-bridge with programmable threshold levels
- Power on reset (POR) and over-voltage shutdown circuitry
- Thermal shutdown circuitry
- Low quiescent current state
- Junction temperature: -40°C to 150°C
- 0.7um CMOS 100V technology
